Roderic O’Connor To National Stud

G1 Irish 2000 Guineas and G1 Criterium International winner Roderic O’Connor (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}–Secret Garden {Ire}, by Danehill), who has notched 17 winners and two black-type winners from his first crop of 2-year-olds this year, will relocate from Ireland’s Ballyhane Stud to Newmarket’s National Stud for the 2016 breeding season. Roderic O’Connor’s first crop is headed by G2 Gran Criterium winner Biz Heart (Ire), as well as the G3 Prix du Calvados scorer Great Page (Ire).

We are delighted to be adding Roderic O’Connor to our roster of stallions,” said National Stud Managing Director Brian O’Rourke. “As a dual Group 1-winning son of Galileo, out of a stakes winning mare, he’s a hugely exciting prospect. Add to that the fact that he’s produced a Group 2 and a Group 3 winner from his first crop of 2-year-olds and we think his appeal will be far-reaching. Our thanks go to Dr. [Cyrus] Poonawalla for choosing to stand him with us at this exciting point in his career.”

Roderic O’Connor will stand for £9,000.
